The Traveler

This thesis collection began with the idea of a commuter on a train, embarking on a journey. These pieces reflect classic train-crew uniform and suit silhouettes. Drawing inspiration from the railways of the early 20th century, this collection merges the tactile elements of train cars and their crew with the journey of a solo traveler. Comprised of two looks, these pieces incorporate details such as the tab closures on a conductor’s uniform or the rope detailing on a hat of a Pullman car conductor.

LOOK 1

A princess-seamed sweetheart neckline dress, paired with a corset-style bodice that sits overtop fastened with tab closures. A detachable train is attached to the back of the bodice.

LOOK 2

This look features a tailored twill coat with contrasting red buttons on the tab closure, and cargo pockets at the sides. Worn with the coat is a navy blouse with a double-convertible collar and a rope-like trim detail that wraps around the body. This blouse has double flounces at the wrist and pointed hems. Worn with the blouse is a pair of light wool trousers with wrap-around pockets intended for utility purposes.
